For the last decade, we’ve been promised AI would change everything for the better. In some ways, it has. AI models recommend our next binge-watch, answer customer queries faster, and help spot diseases before they progress.
But beneath these innovations lies a harder truth: the data that trains these AI systems often works against us.
As AI systems become more powerful, the question of who controls them, how they are trained, and whose values they reflect has never been more urgent. Yet the dominant models of control in today’s AI are failing.
A handful of corporations own and govern the data pipelines, model training processes, and feedback loops. These systems cater to the majority perspective, not because it is inherently better, but because it is easier to scale, monetize, and control. In the process, individual will is erased.
We as users, developers, even institutions feed data into the machine every single day. Yet we get nothing in return. Worse, we have no say in how that data is used, whether it's accurate, or if it aligns with our interests.
In the AI ecosystem, even DAOs fall short.
That’s because traditional DAOs are designed around organizational governance, not individual agency. Their structure is optimized for voting, treasury control, and roadmap coordination — not for aligning thousands of diverse data contributors, model builders, or AI agents with varying intents and perspectives.
The AI narrative has long been dominated by large, generalized models trained on vast internet-scale datasets.
While these systems are powerful, they are also brittle and misaligned, struggling to adapt to niche domains, specialized tasks, or the nuanced needs of individuals.
This paradigm is now shifting.
The next era of AI will not be defined by how big or generalized a model is. Instead, it will be defined by how useful, personalized, and aligned it is — how well it serves specific domains, individuals, and diverse perspectives. The focus is moving bottom-up: from building ever-larger models to building smaller, highly specialized models trained on high-quality, human-aligned, domain-specific data.
But acquiring this kind of data isn’t as simple as scraping the web. It requires active, intentional contributions from individuals, domain experts, and communities.
This led us to a simple but radical idea:
If you want AI to serve humans, then humans — as individuals — must govern the data that AI learns from.
And that is why Individual-centric DAOs (iDAOs) was built.
iDAO stands for Individual-Centric DAO, meaning the power to govern AI starts with the individual.
iDAO is the native social structure of the AI economy — a decentralized space where humans and AI agents co-create, co-govern, and co-monetize aligned intelligence.
iDAOs prioritize the individual: their value, their will, their data, their models.

iDAOs give individuals programmable ownership over the AI assets they create, control, or contribute to — and ensure those assets are trusted, rewarded, and protected.
Each iDAO establishes explicit trust relationships with one or more "Quorums" — dedicated validator groups within the LazAI consensus layer. These Quorums are responsible for reviewing data submissions, validating AI asset updates, and anchoring them to the blockchain. They are economically bonded validation networks with "slashing" and "fraud detection mechanisms" to ensure the integrity of every contribution.
Because everything is validated by Quorums and transparently logged on-chain,
no single actor can hijack the process. It’s trustless, auditable, and secure.
If LazAI is the infrastructure, iDAOs are its soul.
